Kobus or Stefan (KZN0823)

MSc (Nat), Theta National Certificate in Tourism, Master Tracker, NDip Photography, Land Rover - Advanced Offroad Driving Diploma, 2006 Tourguide of the year finalist

Kobus or better known by our international clients as Stefan is the owner of Land Lover Safaris. "I started taking photos of nature and from there it all developed into passionate wildlife photography, taking me to places and situations that I have never imagined.
Working as a free lance photographer for a few wildlife publishers I have had opportunities to witness some of the biggest spectacles in the wild, but sometimes also very sad and tragic events of Mother Nature. It is always very difficult to stand aside and let nature takes its course, but one must. In nature the strongest survive and one must never loose that focus that you are only an onlooker into a story told by the best story teller of all, Mother Nature.

During 2000 to 2005 I worked as an Honory Officer for Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in Mkuze game reserve. In this time I graduated as a National tour guide and registered with TKZN as a specialist nature guide.

I finished my studies in Nature conservation and tourism and specialised in Mammal Behavior (Masters degree). Helping me understand my subject better, being a step ahead brought me some incredible footage.

But now I share this knowledge and experiences mixed with stories from Mother Nature with you. Making a normal Safari an experience of a life time.

Like all adventures one thing led to the next and I started travelling Africa. Exploring the less travelled ways. Meeting people that ran away when they see you, that touch your skin in awe. How can one put such an experience on a piece of paper, how can a pen bring forth the feeling of ones heart when you see the way that these people life, but yet they are so happy… Seeing animals being born and following in their footsteps, saw the fall and rise of kingdoms, the hardships of drought ....
My team also have the same passion as me, Africa is our Mother, our story teller and our guide.

Till we meet again."

2012 Interns

Isabel - PA Intern

Isabel's story - I grew up in a small village called Ingwavuma, located further north of kzn. Matriculated in 2008 and in 2009 up to 2011 I did NCV 3 year tourism course at Umfolozi College (Richtek campus).

During the 2010 world cup I took part in a safer tourism ambassador program which was for a month, our task was to help locals and tourists with directions, give away brochures and promote tourism attractions which are in the UThungulu district.

In 2011 participated in an internship programme where I worked at Umfolozi hotel casino convention resorts for a period of 3 months. The experience was amazing and worthwhile; I got to learn how to handle all sorts of clients and learned more about working in reception, banqueting and housekeeping.

In February 2012 I worked for Dumami Lodge for 1 month period and in March 2012 I got involved in a tourism ambassador programme of which I’m currently busy with and work for Land Lover Safaris. I’m a friendly open person who love working with people and always respects another person’s point of view.

My aim is to get as much experience as I can which will be of advantage in future as I am passionate working in the tourism industry and while gaining experience to benefit Land lover safaris.

I am a young, enthusiastic, reliable hard worker who loves meeting new people and passionate about tourism. My goal is to learn more about tourism, travel around the world. At Land lover Safaris my goal is to grow, get experience, learn, get ideas on how to promote/attract more tourist to the country and promote my area.

Andile - Info hub intern

I am kind and friendly person who likes to work in a team so to know other people’s views. Tourism nowadays is so important because we receive visitors from other countries and that’s where we have to show and explain to them the different attractions that we have, so it also helps us know our country even better.

By participating in this internship programme I think I am going to achieve my goal as I want to be an air hostess when I finish my studies.

Land Rover Discovery 3

Spirit - Because he brought back the free spirit that only a Land Rover can bring. That true African Safari feeling.

Land Rover Discovery 3After 2 years behind the wheel of the Hummer it was time to return to my roots. December 2010 our new addition to the executive vehicle fleet was bought. A Discovery 3 was the choice and will be mostly utilised for our exclusive African safaris and some transfers.

Hummer H3

Isilo - Meaning the King - Standing out in the crowds - the Hummer brings that feeling of superiorority.

For ten years we have been using Land Rover vehicles, in 2008 when it was time to replace our executive vehicle a Hummer H3 Luxury was bought. It many ways it has proven itself. Comfort with a lot of power. It also seems that the elephants tend to ignore it. In December 2010 it was thought best that the Hummer will be utilised for most of our Executive transfers and be withdrawn from our Safari fleet.

Then of cause our free lance vehicles. Each one of them, mainly open Game drive Land Rovers a key figure in our family sharing Africa with our clients.

We also charter aircraft on request.
